Suppression Systems Vedder Engineering

01.

Suppression & Fire Alarm System Design

Design of wet and dry pipe sprinkler systems, standpipe systems, private fire service mains, fire pump systems, and fire alarm systems in accordance with the BCBC and applicable NFPA standards, including NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24, 72, CAN/ULC-S524, S536. Our experience spans data centres, chip fabrication facilities, large-scale logistics and warehouse buildings, high-rack storage, and industrial sites. We apply detailed commodity classification analysis and compare suppression strategies to match system design to your site’s specific water supply and conditions, while ensuring fire alarm and detection systems are fully coordinated with the suppression design and building systems.

02.

Fire & Smoke Modelling

Computational fire and smoke modelling to evaluate tenability, smoke layer descent, and building performance under fire conditions. We then introduce egress simulation to determine the Required Safe Egress Time and Allowable Safe Egress Time to demonstrate life safety performance for complex or large-volume spaces where prescriptive solutions are insufficient.

03.

Hazard Analysis

Systematic analysis of facilities with complex or high-risk processes, including large-scale ammonia refrigerant systems, natural gas equipment, lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, and explosion risk environments. Analysis is conducted against applicable standards, including NFPA, BCBC, International Building & Fire Code, FM Global Data Sheet, ANSI/IIAR, and more.

04.

Code Analysis & Plan Review

Detailed review and analysis of applicable building and fire codes, including the NBC, BC Building Code, BC Fire Code, International Fire Code, and NFPA standards. Experience includes site firefighting apparatus requirements, rack storage suppression methods, and multi-discipline coordination across a broad range of occupancy types, including data centres, government facilities, warehouses, food production facilities and more.

Our Process

how we work

STEP-01

Project Scoping

We start by understanding your project: the building type, occupancy, applicable codes, budget, and any site-specific constraints. This allows us to define the scope clearly and identify the right engineering approach from the outset.

STEP-02

Engineering & Design

We develop technically rigorous fire protection designs, calculations, and documentation tailored to your project requirements, ensuring we coordinate with your architectural and engineering team throughout the process.

STEP-03

Review & Delivery

Deliverables are completed on schedule and reviewed for accuracy and code compliance before submission.

We manage AHJ submissions and review responses efficiently to avoid costly delays, and provide timely support throughout construction to keep contractors and inspections moving forward without interrupting your project timeline or budget.
